GS65 six-finger gripper is a truly unique product with such a clever design
that it just demands attention. The 6-finger gripper has two pistons, each
driven independently by a 3-2 way valve. When compressed air is applied, to
port A, the first piston moves the six pins to pick up and expand the O-
ring. The stroke of the T-slotted pins can be precisely adjusted from 3 to 6
mm per jaw with the external adjusting ring. Once
the O-ring is expanded, compressed air is applied to another port,
activating the second piston. This second piston forces the ejector jaws to
push the O-ring forward, off the pick-up pins, and onto the part. Presto, no
hassle O-ring placement!

6-Fingers Beats 3-Jaws…
In the past,
companies had to resort to using a modified three- jaw gripper to place
O-rings. But since Techno-Sommer raised the ante, with the six-finger O-ring
gripper, there is only one
obvious choice. The GS65 unit’s design ensures that the O-ring is
stretched evenly and to a minimum during installation. The hexagonal shape
allows the O-ring to be picked up and
expanded with considerably less stress on the O-ring than using a three-jaw
model (especially using the stroke adjustment ring). The standard pick-up
jaws can handle O-rings in a diameter range from 4 through 20 mm and
optional sensing is available by adding two inductive proximity switches to
the sides of the
unit. Six-fingers over optional sensing, that is one full hand!
